Can you tell I'm bored?

I'm out of ideas... there is no sun, there is no light. I need more lights inside my home and then I could take more photos. I'll work on that.

In the mean time, here is an example of how picky I am. I will only eat red or orange Skittles. I will pour a bowl (we have a big bag) and once I'm done, this is what the bowl looks like. And we wonder why Jack is such a picky eater...

Rain rain go away!

We were hoping to make it out to the park today but the weather did not allow it. Here is an older photo (new edit) that is fitting because of the rain.

Old photos, new edits

Weather permitting, we plan on going to the park to get more photos tomorrow after Jack's nap. I need to use the on-board flash to get adequate indoor photos. However, the flash creates horrible photos. I use the Light Scoop, but I have outgrown it. I am ready for a speed light, I just can't afford it as of now. For now, I have edited these old photographs.

Jackson's checkup

Jack had his 15 month checkup today. The details are on our family blog. This is my favorite photo from today. He was not happy to be there.

This photograph is one from last year. I edited it by brightening it and running an action. I love it and it makes me miss the sunshine.

More Stewie

I promise there will be more pictures of Jack coming soon. He's been a little difficult lately because his teeth are bothering him. We have his 15 month checkup tomorrow and I promise I will update our family blog. He started out in the "plumpy" position.



Next, he moved into a fancy, polite position. He decided to cross his legs.



He decided our photo session was over.

This is a tough time of year

Why? Because there is no light. Photographers love light -- we need light. How can I take a decent photo without light? It's impossible. There is poor light in our apartment. I need a speedlight because in order to adjust my settings according to the indoor light, I am rarely able to take decent photos of our toddler. Toddlers move fast. The absolute highest shutter speed I can photograph him at is 1/125, and that is with my flash and light scoop. Under most circumstances, I need to photograph him at 1/90 due to the lack of light. This is simply unacceptable for a fast moving toddler.

Although I hate this season and I hate this complete lack of light, what can I photograph at a low shutter speed? This big blob of a kitty... he is simply perfect for practice. I never tire of seeing photos of him.

Brett got Jack a darling Melissa and Doug piano. He adores it so much and he's been playing it nonstop.

How quickly things change when you're only one...

Jack and I were playing outside today. I grabbed the keys to lock the front door behind us. He wanted to play with them so I handed him the keys. He happily played with them.



It was getting cold so I grabbed the keys so we could go inside. This is what happened.

Savannah's turn

I had a really hard time with this photograph. The composition was all wrong. I could not follow the rule of thirds and I could not get a good crop without chopping off her whiskers.

Here is the first crop that bothered me:



The above crop is awkward and not a standard size. I chose to crop it to this. It's a standard size, but I lost a lot of her beautiful, long whiskers.



I did not have a good photography day. At least Savannah is as beautiful as ever!!
